What sets us apart

Traditional first aid kits are often cluttered, hard to navigate, and unintuitive to the layperson, which can cause confusion during high-stress emergency situations. We hope to re-imagine the bag packaging and organization of traditional first aid kits to be « fumble-free » —one that is intuitively labelled, compartmentalized, with easy step-by-step guidance for emergency response. We see our kit as an addition to the standard medical supply tool kit: suitable for homes, schools, fly-in locations, and rural areas. We aim to close the gap in emergency response outcomes between differences in medical education and geographic accessibility. Through emergency response pilot scenarios, we hope to incorporate feedback from first-responders and lay people – centering user experience, health equity, and real-world application.

User-centered design

The backpack is intuitive, simplified, and accessible for both professionals and laypeople, targeting real needs in remote areas with limited access to first-aid.

Evidence-based and professionally-informed

Medical experts, first responders, and students were consulted and their opinions are represented in the curation of our kit.

New ways of thinking

Inspired by our personal experiences as medical students in real-world scenarios, we want to re-package first aid in a way that reduces cognitive burden and is fumble-free.

Constantly evolving

Aims to collect survey data that will further inform improvement of our Fumble Free design.
